Angel Christmas Card I’ve got the blues

Here I am trying to get my post done again in the evening.  It was a busy day at the house. We had the internet repairman come which took time but we have internet again at the house.  My daughter got her cast off so that was time spent at the Doctor’s office.  We are thankful her arm has healed well.  I also had to run to the grocery store.  I did get the card finished but not posted til now.

The card I made today is using the Rejoicing With You stamp set.  I used the angel and the verse from Psalms stamps.  My card stock colors are Midnight Muse, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White.  I started the card by stamping the angel using Versa Mark ink on the Midnight Muse.  I then used Silver Embossing powder to heat emboss the angel image on the Midnight Muse.  I then added a silver edge around the angel by thwacking Illuminate Ink around the edges.  Illuminate is a brand new watermark  ink in the Holiday Catalog.  I then used the Big Shot and the Top Note die to cut a top note out of Whisper White.  I wanted to add a little color so I thwacked the edges this time with Midnight Muse.  My card base is the Bashful Blue.  I then used a background stamp and stamped the card using the Illuminate watermark ink to just give the card front a little shimmer (I hope you can see it in the pictures).  Finally, I stamped my sentiment in Midnight Muse on Whisper White.  I finished it by rounding the corners and attaching it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added the ribbon and tied the bow to finish it all off.

I wanted something different for this card so I made it a Z-fold card.  The top note forms part of the front and it unfolds as you open the card. The bow helps hold the card shut till your ready to open the card. I finished the inside of the card with more illuminate ink and my background stamp and another sentiment from the Rejoicing With You stamp set stamped in Midnight Muse.

I added some extra pictures so you could see the detail of this card.

Internet went down again so I will have to post supply list when it is working again.

I hope you enjoyed this Angel Christmas card in shades of blues and silvers. I will see you tomorrow.

Another Brown and Pink “for baby” Card

I wanted to share the other card that I designed while working on my entry for the Less is More Brown and Pink Color Challenge from yesterday.  This was actually the first card that I designed but once I finished it and looked at the rules again for the challenge I decided I needed to go back to the designing table.  This card also used the Top Note die cut but I use the whole top note on this card rather than just half of the top note.  I also choose to use Whisper White as my card base and add the Pink Pirouette as a layer under the soft suede top note.  All the layering didn’t fit the rules of the challenge but I think this card is more my normal style.  I do think this card is more simplistic than some of my other cards.  The ribbon is my only embellishment and no embossing.  I like the card because it is simple and sometimes less really is more.  It was also a very quick card to make as there were not a lot of fussy elements and sometimes we all need quick and easy.

Here is my supply list for this project.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.

Less is More Brown and Pink Challenge Entry

Sorry this post is so late in being posted.  I had the card made and was going to write the post last night once the kids were in bed but as I was working in the kitchen getting ready to make some Strawberry Shortcake and I ended up running the middle of my forehead into the corner of a cupboard door.  I can actually say I think I really saw stars.  According to my husband, I even bent the hinges on the cupboard door.  I am not sure I believe him he is prone to exaggeration but needless to say I hit the door with a lot of force. So last night instead of writing this post I spent a couple of  hours at urgent care getting some very fancy pictures of the inside of my head.  The verdict is just a concussion but some very strong warnings from the Doctor to take it easy today, so I am at home writing this while my Mom is taking the kids to school.  If it gets really pretty with lots of different colors I may post pictures right now it is really just a crease in the middle of my head.  OK now onto the important stuff today’s card.

I am doing a first for me.  I am entering a challenge on a website.  “Less is More” is a challenge blog site and they have a challenge every week.  I am entering their Brown and Pink Week 83 Colour Challenge (this site is out of England so they use the British spelling of color it is not just that we can’t spell).  I am nervous and excited to enter.  Their minimal style is different from my normal style but I thought it would be good for me to expand outside my comfort zone and I am competitive enough that the idea of a challenge appeals to me as well.  I am also hoping to get some feedback on my design and card.  I enjoy designing but I want to expand my talents and get better and the only way to do that is to hear others opinions about your work.

I choose to make a card for a baby gift.  The colors pink and brown remind me of the cute outfits my daughter would wear as a baby.  I used Pink Pirouette as the card base.  Soft Suede cut into half a top not using my Big Shot and the Top Note die.  I then used the “for baby” stamp from the Easy Events Stamp Set stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White.  I colored in the outline stamp using my Stampin’ Write Markers.  I love my markers.  If I had to choose between an ink pad and a marker I would choose a marker.  The markers are so versatile.  The umbrella and hat on the duck again repeat the pink and brown theme.  I finished the card with a simple Whisper White satin ribbon.
