Masculine Sympathy Card

Hello Everyone,

I am back.  I am sorry I have been silent for the last month.  I started a new job and it has taken me a lot more time than I expected to get adjusted and figure out how to better manage my time.  I have not stopped stamping.  In fact I have managed to do quite a bit of stamping.  I just couldn’t keep up with both.  I am hoping now that I have a number of projects finished that I can blog about I will be able to post more regularly.  I going to work towards posting 2 to 3 times per week.

The project I have for you today is a Sympathy Card.  I am working on building a supply of cards that I can use when needed.  A sympathy card is something we all need. I have to admit that my husband helped me design this card.  He is always an asset when I am designing something that I really want to appeal to a man.  This card was a definite work in progress that took many twists and turns before we finalized the project.

I started with the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set from the Annual Catalog page 54.  I used the tree stamp for my image and decided to play a little and used my Stampin’ Write markers to color the leaves in fall colors.  I used More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Bravo Burgundy.  I just colored different leaves with the different markers in a random fashion.  Some leaves got colored with two colors.  I also used my Chocolate Chip marker for the branches.  I then stamped the design on a piece of Very Vanilla Card stock cut to fit on the front of the card.  I also used my Big Shot and the Apothecary Accents Framelits from the Annual Catalog pg 191.  I cut the design out and saved the cut out piece and used the frame that produced.   I used another framelits from the same set and cut out from Chocolate Chip as the background for the sentiment.  I used a sentiment from the Thoughts and Prayers stampset and stamped on Very Vanilla Card stop with Chocolate Chip and then used my Large Oval punch.  I popped the very vanilla oval up using a Stampin’ dimensional and another set to pop the background cutout as well.  This was a total of two layers of dimensionals.  I also added the four brads from the 3/16″ Neutrals Brads from the Annual Catalog page 174.

Since the card base was Chocolate Chip which is so dark I added a simple piece of Very Vanilla card stock to the inside.  This allowed me to stamp a saying on the inside also from the Thoughts and Prayers stampset.  This I stamped in Wild Wasabi the same color green from the front of the card.  I didn’t add anything else to the inside as I would have done had I been intending to give this card to a female.  My husband reminds me to keep things more simple to maintain the male appeal.

Here is my supply list for this project.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.
