Easy Events Merry Christmas Card

Sorry this is so late today.  I got behind and have not been able to get caught up and now my internet is down so I am forced to post from my phone.  I am not sure if I am ever going to get caught up and back to posting in the am or not.   The only thing I know is that I am going to keep posting no matter what.  I am enjoying designing and sharing my cards with you and a little of my life as well.  I just need to build some more customers so that I can have my passion help support my family.

Ok on to today’s card.  I received a shipment from Stampin’ Up with some of the Core’dinations Card Stock in Cherry Cobbler from the Holiday catalog and the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. I couldn’t wait to try these two things together. The Core’dinations Card Stock is essentially two toned paper with a lighter tone inside. To bring the two tones out I first embossed the paper using the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder and then took my sanding block and sanded the top of the paper until I was happy with the look. When I showed the paper to my mom she said “it feels like velvet”. I then took my circle punch and punched a 2 1/2″ circle out of Gumball Green. I am using the easy events stamp set again and stamped the Merry Christmas image on Whisper White in Gumball Green. I colored the berries using my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker. I decided to use my Blender Pen and my Gumball Green ink pad to get a lighter shade of green and have the outline of the leaves show through. I punched the design out using my 2 3/8″ scalloped circle punch. I attached the Whisper White piece to the Gumball Green circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then used some of the 3/8″ Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon to balance the card. I added a little ribbon knot as well. I used Gumball Green again for the card itself.

Another Brown and Pink “for baby” Card

I wanted to share the other card that I designed while working on my entry for the Less is More Brown and Pink Color Challenge from yesterday.  This was actually the first card that I designed but once I finished it and looked at the rules again for the challenge I decided I needed to go back to the designing table.  This card also used the Top Note die cut but I use the whole top note on this card rather than just half of the top note.  I also choose to use Whisper White as my card base and add the Pink Pirouette as a layer under the soft suede top note.  All the layering didn’t fit the rules of the challenge but I think this card is more my normal style.  I do think this card is more simplistic than some of my other cards.  The ribbon is my only embellishment and no embossing.  I like the card because it is simple and sometimes less really is more.  It was also a very quick card to make as there were not a lot of fussy elements and sometimes we all need quick and easy.

Here is my supply list for this project.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.

I hope you enjoyed seeing  this Pink and Brown Baby Card and how small changes can make a completely different card.  See you again tomorrow.

Before and After Embellishments

I said yesterday I would do a before and after post showing how embellishments can improve a card and here it is.  The first card is one that my daughter, Lainy and I created together for her to use as her thank you notes after her birthday party.  They were a great card for an eight year old to make and send to her friends.   She was thrilled with the card and excited that she got to help design a card with mommy.  We used the Big Shot Die cutting machine with the Paper Dolly Sizzlits L die  that debuted in the spring mini catalog and is now in the current annual catalog.  We also used the 2 3/8″ scallop circle punch and the 2 1/2″ circle punch.  The card stock is a combination of current and retired colors as this was a project that I could use some of my retired stock on.  The stamp set we used is Easy Events which is in the current annual catalog and is the featured stamp set for my stamp set of the month club for September.  Lainy liked this stamp because she used my Stampin Write Markers to color the flowers in on each card.  This card really is easy to create.  The toughest part of this card is getting all the little pieces of the doily punched out.  I use a set of very pointy tweezers to get the pieces out of the punch-out and out of the die.  I love this doily and feel it is worth the time for the look you get with the doily.  Lainy helped with each step and many of them she did herself while I worked on other cards.  We finished the look off by using Stampin’ dimensional to pop up the scalloped circle.

The second card is one I created for a workshop I did at the beginning of June.  The hostess was wanting to learn how to create classy cards without them looking over done.  She had a tendency to over do her cards so I created three projects that focused on being simple but complete.  This is one of those projects.  I used the exact same supplies as the first card but I also used the 1/4″ stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, two pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels, and a butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.  I added the ribbon across the top of the card both inside and out.  It is threaded through a slit I cut into the side fold.  I could then  hide my ends beneath the butterfly.  I don’t like seeing the cut ends of ribbon unless it is on a bow.  The two pearls finish off the butterfly.  The picture doesn’t show them as pearls but that is what they are they are not silver ( I am working on my photography skills).

Here is my supply list for this project.  I am listing everything only for the second card shown.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.
