I am Back

I can’t believe it has been 3 years since I last posted. Life has definitely been a roller coaster ride over the last few years. I am amazed how life takes us down roads we never dreamed we would ever travel yet those roads also seem to bring us back home again. Over the course of the last 3 years I have gone from working full time outside the home to starting a business with my husband that is now 100% of our family’s income. You just never know what can happen when you take a few risks and step out in faith. Now that I have things at least somewhat figured out with the business, I am looking to find a little more balance in my life and carve out some me time. For me that means spending more time in my craft room. I also want to get back to sharing my creations here and work at building my blog as well.

I have been crazy busy getting ready for my re-debut as a paper crafter and Stampin’ Up demonstrator. I will be hosting a table at the Hometown Christmas Event on Saturday, December 2nd being held at Linda’s Salon in Eaton Rapids. I will be selling hand made cards for all occasions and will have a selection of Christmas cards as well. I will also be looking to fill stamp clubs starting in January.

Here is a preview of a few of the cards that I will have available on Saturday.

Let me know which card is your favorite or what type of card you would like to see.

Follow Your Heart Farewell Card

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share this card with you that is slightly different from some of my normal cards but it was made with a very specific person in mind and was well received.  I made this card for my sister’s office who needed a card for a staff member who was leaving after working for the company for a number of years.  The person who the card was made for favorite colors are red and black so that is where I started along with a sentiment that seemed appropriate as she was not leaving to retire but for personal reasons.

I utilized Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, and Basic Grey for my card stock and then used the Regals Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks.  I also used 3/16″ brads in basic black and the 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in Riding Hood Red.  I used my largest circle punch and largest scallop circle punch as well as the Appothecary Accents Framelits and the coordinating Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack,  This card really is about creating repeating layers of color and shapes as I have the colors repeated in the rectangle layers as well as the round layers in the center.

This card design would work well for a mascaline card as well and could easily be personalized with simple color changes.  I want to make more cards using this design for my personal card box.  I am trying to keep cards on hand so that I can easily send cards out to people when they need a little pick me up or I just want to let them know I am thinking about them.  Social Media lets us stay connected with what is going on in friends and families lives but I think a hand made card sent through the mail really makes people feel special and cared for.
