Thoughts and Prayers Square Sympathy Card

Hello Everyone,

I have for you today another sympathy card that I have made.  It has seemed like I needed a number of sympathy cards this fall.  I once again went to my Thoughts and Prayers stamp set.  This time I tried a different technique and created a card with the same set I have used before with a very different look.

I stamped the flowers from this set and actually stamped it multiple times to create a group of stamped images in as straight of a line as I could get with this stamp.  I then took my 1″ square punch and punched out the white squares.  I liked using the punch for this step because it allowed me to see exactly what my square would look like once punched.  Cutting the squares would have been more difficult.  I did cut the layers behind the stamped layer they were just squares and were quick to cut strips into the right size squares.  I also added the border using the scallop trim border punch.  My colors were Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist, and Wild Wasabi (I think.  It has been awhile and I didn’t take notes on my colors.)  I once again needed the card and didn’t have time to take notes or make me a sample.  I am just glad that I got a picture taken.  You can use what ever colors strike you.  I wanted something that was definitely on the feminine side since this card was not going to a couple but to a twenty-something women.

Merry Christmas

Hello Everyone,

I thought it would be fitting to just post an assortment of Christmas Cards that I have made this year.  I was pleased that I actually got to make and send out Christmas cards this year.  That was a feat within itself for me.  I have not been very good about sending out Christmas cards for the last couple of years.  I unfortunately did not get a chance to take very good pictures of all the cards we did make and send out.  We utilized different paper and supplies that I wanted to use up in order to make room for some of the great new stuff coming out in the new seasonal spring catalog as well as for sale-a-bration.  So I am just sharing the cards today with very little explanation of supplies or techniques.

Masculine Get Well Card

Hello Everyone,

The card I am showing you today is one I made to send to a twenty-something guy who had been in the hospital.  I used my color coach to get me started on my color combination.  I like using the color coach to give me a quick set of colors to pull together when I need a quick start to a project.  I was looking for something that would give me a masculine feel.  I ended up using Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, and Night of Navy.  I at least think these are the colors I used.  I could have used Midnight Muse as the blue.  I am working off of a picture and can’t remember which color I used for sure.  I needed the card and had to make one to fit the occasion.  Several color combinations would work depending on what you or the person you are sending it to might enjoy.  I keep telling myself I am going to make better notes but time seems to get away from me or I get interupted and end up sending the card before I get my notes made.  I also felt like the buttons mounted on the Riding Hood Red card stock pennant strip kept the card masculine rather than adding ribbon.

I have really liked adding this trend of the pennant strip.  It became really easy to do once I learned the trick of using the corner of a square punch to get the pennant look on the end of the strip.  It was a simple trick but one I had not thought of myself.  That is what I love about looking at other people’s blogs is picking up those tricks.  If I don’t think to share those tricks and you wonder how I did something please ask because I don’t always think to explain everything.  I also used baker’s twine in the buttons.  I was told never to leave a button naked.  It helps to finish the card.  I would agree with that advice.  I love the baker’s twine to finish my buttons.  I added some texture to the card using embossing folders and the different layers.  The sentiment I used is from the Word Play stamp set which is also available for a limited time as single stamps.

Owl Occasions Birthday Card

Hello Everyone,

I am still trying to get my posts more regular.  I will eventually get this all figured out.  I do have lots that I want to share with you all.  I have been busy making cards so I have lots to share I just need to get the posts completed so I can share them with you all.  Stampin’ Up is also doing lots of great stuff and I am trying to keep that information updated as well so be sure and check out the sidebars of my blog site as well for the information on what promotions Stampin’ Up is running.

This card is a fun one.  I needed a birthday card for a girl who was turning 15.  I wanted to use bright colors and cute designs that would appeal to a teenager.  The Owl Occasions set from the Holiday Catalog is a very versatile set that can be used for people of all ages depending on your color choices.  I have several cards made with this set that you will be seeing in the near future.  I also used the Big Shot with the Apothecary Accents Framelits and my 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle punch to add to the card.  The ribbon is the 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon in Midnight Muse.  My Color choices are from the 2012-2014 In Color colors.  I find that the in color colors are usually on the hipper side and I tend to use them more when designing for the younger crowd.

Here is my supply list for this project.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.

Stamp Set: Owl Occasions Wood #128000 — Clear #128003 (Holiday Catalog only available until January 2, 2013)
