3-D Happy Birthday Card

Well it worked I managed to successfully schedule yesterday’s post so I am at it again writing the night before. In fact, I am writing this as I am settling my daughter down for bed. She thinks mom’s blog is a bedtime story.

Today’s card is one I used for a workshop I did back in June. I got the idea for the card from a swap made by my upline Donna Pelon. It is not your traditional side or top fold card. It is a 3-D card that is a kind of shadow box. I used the Four Seasons Hostess stamp set.  Of course, I couldn’t make a card without using my Big shot machine and both the Beautiful Wings Embosslits and the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder.  The colors for this card are Pretty in Pink, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla.  I also used several punches.  I again finished the butterfly with a couple of the small pearl jewels.

The design inside the circle is stamped in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla and is then mounted on a circle of Riding Hood Red.  The Happy Birthday is stamped in Pretty in Pink on Very Vanilla and then mounted on Riding Hood Red.  I made another version of this card using two smaller circles instead of the one large circle and that can be seen on my blog post Vintage Vogue Class Preview.

I hope you can see how this card is 3-D and how it is constructed from two pieces of card stock that are scored at the ends adhered together and then folded to make the card stand up.  You can write on the back of the card instead of on the inside.  I have flattened and puffed my card a number of times and it stands every time.

Here is my supply list for this project.  All items listed are from Stampin’ Up and include their item numbers.
